At the end of the 19th century, the small village of Schaerbeek underwent a remarkable transformation. Between 1800 and 1900, its population increased from 1,100 to 64,000 inhabitants. This galloping urbanisation offered an unbeatable field of experience and creativity for the architects of the time.
